Written by Darcy Paquet
South Korea and Vietnam are collaborating on their first feature film co-production, $3 million horror pic "Muoi."
Produced by South Korea's Billy Pictures and Popcorn Films and Vietnam's Phuoc Sang Film Studio, "Muoi" charts the path of a Korean writer who travels to Vietnam in search of stories for her second novel. There she learns about a mystery centered around a century-old vengeful spirit.
Well-known Vietnamese actors Ahn Thu and Hong Anh join Korean thesps Jo An ("Wishing Stairs") and Cha Ye-ryeon ("Voice").
Financed by IM Pictures, pic is helmed by South Korea's Kim Tae-kyung, who directed midsized hit "Ghost" (aka "Ryung") in 2004. The production is also receiving support from the Korean Film Council and Vietnam's Ministry of Information & Culture.
Vietnam was one of the first countries to embrace the so-called Korean Wave, and Korean pop culture remains highly popular there.
Muoi will tell the story of a Korean girl named Jae Eun (Korean actress Joe An) who has a burning desire to become a novelist. She writes a life of her high school girl friend and the novel soon gets wide public recognition.
While thinking about her second book, she learns about a love vow named “Muoi” in Vietnam. She immediately comes to Vietnam to learn and about the vow as well as use it for inspiration. In Vietnam, she comes across the ghost named Muoi and learns that the vow originated from the death of that maiden girl.

M

Regie: Lee Myung-Se
Darsteller: Kang Dong-Won, Lee Yeon-Hee, Gong Hyo-Jin
Visually gifted director Lee Myung-Se revealed that his next film M will be of extremes. He’s been quoted saying that his next film will feature the acme of sadness and fear, and the zenith of beauty; namely: love.
M started filming last year November. Kang Dong-won plays a famous novelist who is struggling with his latest work. Also, he’s experiencing ambiguous moments where reality and dream become indistinctive. He has a kind and charming girlfriend, a role by actress Gong Hyo-jin. However, one time he meets another woman. He doesn’t recognize her at first as his first love Mi-mi (LeeYoun-hee), who passed away a long time ago.
Director Lee said the film will be a dark labyrinth of dream and reality, but that the first love between Kang Dong-won’s and Lee Youn-hee’s characters will be the heart of the film. In order to create the right feeling he will avoid fantasy created by Computer Graphics. Instead he favors to capture the fantasy elements through lighting and emotions.
Kang Dong-won also starred in Lee Myung-Se’s previous film Duelist (Hyeongsa) from 2005. Another film which brought Lee recognition is the 1999 Nowhere to Hide (Injeongsajeong Bol Geot Eobta).
------------------------------------
Es sind weitere Releases am Start, wie z.B. "Maid of Honor" und auch "There are two People", angeblich ist auch noch eine fünfte Verfilmung von "Whispering Corridors" geplant. Ich denke klar herausstechen werden "Muoi: The Legend of a Portrait" und "The Evil Twin". Zu Ersterem wird es hier noch einen Thread mit vielen beeindruckenden Bildern und Postern geben. Freut euch schonmal.
Ich bin schon gespannt, was uns so erwartet.
